About J. R Petre

J.R. Petre is an esotericist and the founder of the Company of Cerin Amroth. She has well over 20 years’ experience in the Western Mystery Tradition, and over 40 years’ experience of working with the human psyche.​

After some years as a solitary practitioner, she worked in an Old Craft coven before joining The Company of Avalon. Following this she was a member of the Gareth Knight Group (formerly known as the Avalon Group) for many years until the formation of the C.C.A. Here she was gatekeeper, co-ordinated the group’s work with students and supported supervisors. She has spoken at the Gareth Knight Group Conference, and the Dion Fortune Seminar, and has published work on Tolkien’s magic and various other esoteric topics.​

She worked throughout her career in the NHS as a consultant clinical psychologist, and psychoanalytic psychotherapist, increasingly drawn to depth psychology, and with expertise in groups. On leaving the NHS she earned a Masters degree from Canterbury Christ Church University in ‘Myth, Cosmology & the Sacred,’ where she focussed on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, and completed her thesis ‘Remembering Arwen Undómiel.’​

She is experienced in a range of magical approaches and panthea. She has a deep interest in the divine feminine, faery and ancestral work, the green land, and in the threads connecting psyche and cosmos. She is forever drawn back to Luthany- named for Lúthien Tinúviel- the inner Britain of Tolkien’s mythology, which first brought her to the mysteries, and with which she has worked magically for over twenty years.​

A clear inner plane call has led to the formation of the Company of Cerin Amroth, which now requires its own temenos on the inner planes.​​
